Baseline measurements

Knowing where you are at with your body measurements before beginning your weight loss journey provides you with a clear starting point. It sets a baseline so that you can track your progress accurately over time.

For some people, stepping on a scale can trigger many different emotions and some may be reluctant to do so. There may be feelings of shame, disappointment and a fear of judgement based on their weight.

If this is something that you identify with, look at this process as taking a productive first step in making changes for your health. Seeing positive changes in your body measurements, even if the scale doesn’t move significantly, can be highly motivating. It encourages you to stay focused and committed to your weight loss goals.

In this section we will discuss the process of weight gain and explain the different measurements that are used to assess your weight.
